OEMC Event – Mobile Workshop at Innovation Park

On September 10th, Innovation Park hosted 45 guests from south eastern Ontario in a workshop titled “Engaging your community in research and innovation”.  Access to this event was offered to regional economic development groups, provincial and municipal officials and small businesses via the recent Ontario East Municipal Conference which was held in Kingston, Ontario.

The objectives of the workshop included:
1) the demonstration of the relevance of Innovation Park in promoting economic prosperity in Eastern Ontario, and
2) the introduction of resources, services and programs that can be accessed through Innovation Park.

The workshop featured an introduction to the Park, an overview of the recently launched ACCELERATE Ontario program, an introduction to the national Green Chemistry Commercialization Centre which will be located at the Park, an interactive panel discussion and tours of the facilities.

As one workshop participant stated, “the audience heard --- and contributed to --- a wide range of perspectives on some issues that are core to being able to forge and develop effective collaborations which drive innovation”.
