Contest winner Jake Mitchell shares his innovation experience

On July 2nd I began my position eager and excited to take part. I came to work open minded and ready to learn. Digitizing the lab space at Innovation Park was an important role throughout my stay. With this, I was granted access to all of the labs and was able to obtain a basic understanding of research fundamentals and the equipment used in certain applications.

While attending tenant meetings, I played a large role as my lab drawings were heavily relied on to visualize change and indicate requirements. With the hopes of becoming an established engineer, I was particularly interested in this area and felt honoured to take part.
My time at the Fuel Cell Research Centre was also extremely fascinating. I was able to participate in the basic testing and building of fuel cells, which is an opportunity that is rare to most. In a society that is driven to find innovative fuel solutions, I really enjoyed getting an inside look at the extensive work behind such research.

In closing, my Innovation Experience turned out to be much more than just a summer internship. It introduced me to industry procedures and professional methods and has greatly influenced my career aspirations. I appreciate all that I took part in during my internship and am grateful for such an opportunity.
