High Performance Computing Virtual Laboratory

High Performance Computing Virtual Laboratory (HPCVL) provides powerful computational support for Computer Aided Molecular Design (CAMD) and other fields important to biomedical research.

HPCVL Kingston is home to the administrative offices and central computer for HPCVL. A network of fast and powerful Sun computers located at seven universities and colleges across Ontario.

Human Mobility Research Centre

A multidisciplinary partnership between Queen’s University and Kingston General Hospital, HMRC provides shared research space and services for clinicians, orthopaedic surgeons, university faculty, students and industry. The Centre offers specialized labs for bio-simulation, tissue processing, prosthesis design, software development and gait analysis, as well as one of the world’s first computer-enhanced surgical suites.

iGO Technologies

iGO Technologies combines surgical expertise and cutting-edge software development practices to develop planning and guidance systems for computer-assisted surgery.

Institute for the Environment

The Royal Military College’s Institute for the Environment is a multidisciplinary team investigating and researching a wide variety of environmental problems and issues in support of federal government agencies. Past activities include conducting site assessments, remediation, monitoring, and developing new environmental standards and fuel cell technology. The Institute also offers a full program of environmental training through short courses, distance education, and/or as part of undergraduate or graduate programs.

Jenal Heating and Air-Conditioning's Simply Solar division

Install solar thermal and solar PV systems, wind turbines, and wood stoves. They are active participants in the alternative energy community. Alex Jansen of Jenal Heating and Air-Conditioning is an expert in boiler technology and has designed some of his own solar hot water systems. He also holds some patents in this area.
