City of Kingston

The City of Kingston has built sustainability into its new official plan. City of Kingston new buildings must all be considered for LEED Silver design or better, including new Police headquarters which was built to LEED gold. City Council looking for ways all building construction more energy efficient than existing code
City Council has set corporate and community targets for greenhouse gas emission reductions and will be offsetting all City travel with local carbon offsets.

DuPont’s Research Development and Engineering Centre is located in Kingston. The company is actively working on a variety of bio-based such as including fuels, chemicals and materials (including bio-fibre composites).

DuPont is a world leader in the development of polymer products and processes. With almost 200 employees, the Centre is an integral part of the global DuPont network and its role in innovative materials science.

Eastern Ontario Model Forest

Eastern Ontario Model Forest works with government, landowners, industry, First Nations and other stakeholders to develop new ways to sustain and manage our forest resources. These two groups are the hub of forest bio-mass information and contacts in the Eastern Ontario region.
