CMC Microsystems

CMC Microsystems provides university researchers with industry-calibre design resources, access to state-of-the-art prototyping technologies, tools for testing and support services for a wide variety of applications including the environment (e.g., pollution diagnostics and monitoring systems).

CMC provides the national gateway to microsystems research and development in Canada. CMC delivers innovative and cost-effective services to an impressive community of microsystems researchers. Connecting 42 universities and one college across Canada, CMC's reach includes approximately 3,000 faculty and graduate students.

CMC stimulates synergistic collaboration among universities, companies and government agencies. CMC is a pioneer in developing creative solutions including Canada-wide Internet-based access to advanced microsystems testing facilities—at a fraction of the cost of conventional methods.

At the heart of the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) sector, microsystems are essential for ICT products and services including computers, telephones and cell phones, satellites, fibre optic communications, the Internet, global positioning systems and broadband technologies. Microsystems are also essential to the cars of today and the future in powertrain components, safety systems, environmental systems, navigation and collision avoidance systems, multimedia systems and hydrogen fuel cell systems.
