Kingston Process Metallurgy Inc. is a locally founded company (2002) offering expertise in lab scale chemical process development for the metallurgical industry, including light metals, non-ferrous metals, secondary materials, and hydrogen production and storage. It has over 10 employees with clients around the world, including Russia, Spain, France, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and the USA. The types of projects are extremely varied but this provides the benefit of cross-pollination and idea generation from one industry to another.
The company offers direct access to leading edge analytical instruments, powerful computational thermochemistry software, and a variety of laboratory and mini-pilot scale equipment. The company is highly experienced at doing targeted research for process development (or to troubleshoot a current process).
KPM provides an effective combination of applied chemistry and unit operation development so that a wide range of processes can be handled. Reduction in energy in a process is a main driver, and most projects are contract work from international mining companies, however, KPM also has its own research projects such as chemical hydride hydrogen storage , hydrogen production from H2S, magnesium chloride dehydration, low cost solar grade silicon and titanium production.
