It is clear that Canada’s economy, and indeed the world's economy is changing. Our future success depends on developing new approaches that translate into hard dollars and cents. The artificial walls that have existed between the business and academic worlds are being broken down. Bridges are replacing those walls here in Kingston through the cooperative efforts fostered by Innovation Park.

KINGSTON, ON – Innovation Park at Queen’s University recently welcomed Procter and Gamble Canada (P&G) and CMC Microsystems to its growing community of innovators and specialists. This brings to 18 the number of small and large organizations and companies that currently call Innovation Park home.

Innovation Park at Queen’s University connects to global grid of research networks

ORION connects its first research park

TORONTO – The Ontario Research and Innovation Optical Network (ORION) has connected its first research park. Researchers, academics and industry partners at Innovation Park at Queen’s University can now access the super speed of Ontario’s fibre optic network for research and education, tapping into a pool of over 1 million researchers, scientists, faculty and students across the province, and connecting to the grid of advanced research networks around the world.

Innovation Park: Demonstration site for leading edge alternative energy technology

Innovation Park at Queen’s University and the Novelis Global Technology Centre, co-located at 945 Princess Street, recently installed and commissioned world class, leading-edge solar technology to deliver a source of clean energy to the research and development site.  Expected to reduce greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions by more than 20 tonnes per year, the system is providing 40kW of energy to the site and is also providing real time research and field testing capability.

Winner of high school innovation contest invited to join Innovation Park team

Innovation Park at Queen's University today announces that a student of Napanee District Secondary School has won the innovation essay contest and been invited to join their team for the summer.

In May, Innovation Park invited local area high school students to express their thoughts on the meaning of innovation with the chance of winning a cash prize and life-changing summer job experience. Jake Mitchell, a 17-year-old student at the Napanee highschool has been awarded the coveted 1st prize.

Community of innovators and specialists grows

Kingston, ON - Innovation Park, Kingston's Academic and Industrial research partnership, today welcomes two new members — CMC Microsystems and SWITCH Kingston — to its growing community.

"Both CMC and SWITCH are ideal tenants for Innovation Park," says Kerry Rowe, VP Research, Queen's University. "They've chosen Innovation Park because they see benefits to operating within that community, but what I see is that each of them increases the value of Innovation Park simply by joining it."

Momentum builds as Innovation Park is officially launched

(Kingston, ON) -- A new technology park representing a vibrant model of innovation and introducing an exciting new dimension to the Kingston and region economy officially opens today, and is already adding two more dynamic new tenants to the site.

"We have reached another important milestone in the life of the technology park," says Queen's VP Research Kerry Rowe. "We have been looking forward to the opportunity to formally thank those in industry and government who have shared in our vision for this exciting venture and who have supported us in bringing it to fruition."

Queen's solar technology to provide heating and cooling for Novelis

Novelis and Queen's University are delighted to announce a joint investment in an experimental solar thermal installation on the site of the Novelis Global Technology Centre (NGTC).

The new facility will be a unique configuration providing preheated water for various applications during the winter months and cooling, via a solar compatible chiller unit, during the summer months.

Innovation Park at Queen's University issues challenge to student innovators

Innovation Park at Queen's University invites Kingston high school students to express their thoughts on the meaning of innovation with the chance of winning a cash prize and even a summer job experience.

Sponsored by KEDCO and recently launched by Innovation Park, Innovation Experience is designed to spark the creativity and freshness of ideas that youth possess and that are the hallmarks of innovation.

The challenge for high school applicants is to articulate "why innovation is important"? Essays should be 1000 words or less.
